Fair Use Terms & Conditions
(Please read once before downloading full text articles)

It is the responsibility of individual users to ensure that the use of electronic resources does not breach the terms and conditions specified in the license agreements.

Licenses vary from publisher to publisher. The general principles are as follows.

Permitted Use
  • Using e-resources for scholarly, educational or scientific research, teaching, private study and clinical purposes
  • Viewing, downloading, copying, printing and saving a copy of full text articles and search results
  • Sending a copy of an article to another authorized user (i.e. current faculty, students or staff)
  • Posting the URL to the publisher's version of the article on a class website (publisher links will allow only authorized users access)
  • If you are teaching a class, you can print out a copy of an article from an electronic journal and include it in your course pack
Not Permitted
  • Systematic downloading: downloading of entire journal issue/s or volume/s or articles in large quantities
  • Use of robots or intelligent agents for bulk or automatic downloading
  • Downloading e-resources for commercial gain (i.e. reselling, redistributing or republishing of licensed content in any other medium)
  • Electronic distribution of full text content (published version in any format, e.g. HTML/PDF of an article): electronic distribution means transmitting, disseminating or public posting of the content on personal websites, networks, blogs, mailing lists or electronic bulletin boards to make online content available to unauthorized users
  • Full text articles (even in multiple copies of print) should not be circulated
