Summary
"The Routledge Handbook of English Language and Digital Humanities provides a comprehensive survey of how the digital turn in research has impacted upon the study of the English language. This includes the study of the English Language in its own right using digital data sources and analytical approaches to underpin the development of better descriptions of the English Language, as well as the study of English language at the interface with other areas of research in the Digital Humanities. Divided into four sections, this handbook covers: sources and corpora; the main digital approaches to linguistic analysis; English language at the interface with other areas of research in the Digital Humanities; and the future of English Language and Digital humanities. In covering these areas, more traditional approaches and methodologies in the humanities are combined with the computing power and techniques that allow 'old' humanities research challenges to be addressed in a new way, and new questions to be asked of the material and sources that lie at the heart of a wide spread of humanities disciplines in the era of "Big Data". This is a ground-breaking collection of essays offering incisive and essential reading for anyone with an interest in the English language and Digital Humanities"--
