Braille Workstations

University of Hyderabad is one of the few universities in the country which provides books in Braille (418) and other facilities and services to differently abled students as per the UGC guidelines. All the buildings on the campus have approach ramps to enable the physically-challenged students to move freely.

The IGM Library provides barrier-free access to the book stacks and reading halls. There are separate computer workstations with special software for Visually-challenged students. The library has workstations with JAWS & Kruzwel speech synthesizer software installed. In addition, there are two systems with 'Zoomex' readers to scan and convert image into text on the screen to enable the students to hear and also save the text. The library also provides free cassette tape recorders and audio tapes to visually-challenged students on their ID cards. IGM library has acquired two wheel chairs for the use of physically-challenged students to move freely inside the library.
