This park provides an opportunity to interpret events in the Pacific theater of World War II. It includes major historic sites associated with the 1944 battle for Guam, an example of the island-hopping military campaign against the Japanese. The park contains seven distinct units illustrating various aspects of the struggle. Aging gun emplacements and other military equipment relics also can be seen. Authorized: August 18, 1978

Facilities:
The Visitor Center is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturdays and Sundays and Federal holidays. The Visitor Center is closed Thanksgiving, Dec. 25 and Jan 1. The Park units (beaches, monuments, historic areas and picnic areas) are open to vehicular access from 7:30 to 6:00 p.m., daily. Pedestrians may access the areas 24 hours a day, however overnight stays are not permitted in the Park. Contact the park staff for more specific information prior to making your travel plans.
 
Guam is in the Western Pacific and is the southern most island of the Mariana Islands and is 1500 miles (2419.3 km.) south of Tokyo and 6100 miles (9838.7 km.) west of San Francisco. Guam is 15 hours ahead of Eastern Standard Time. The Park consists of 7 separate units, all located on the Philippine Sea (west) side of island. The Visitor Information Center and Park Headquarters are on the beach side of Marine Drive in the village of Asan. Guam is 15 hours ahead of Eastern Standard Time and does not observe Daylight Savings Time.
 
Fees and Permits: No entrance fee. Permits are required for groups of 50 or more.
 
For Your Safety: Live ordnance may still be found throughout the park. Please report any ammunition or military explosives you find on or off shore. Some open caves may still contain booby traps. Some areas of the park are still privately owned, please observe No Trespassing Signs.
