National Historic Site

This important colonial backcountry trading village is the scene of Nathanael Greene's siege in 1781. The site contains earthwork embankments of a 1781 star-shaped earthen fortification, a reconstructed stockade fort, the remains of two historic villages, a colonial plantation complex, and numerous prehistoric sites. DIRECTIONS:
Two miles south of the town of Ninety Six on SC Hwy 248
From I-26, take SC Highway 72 west to the town of Ninety Six
From I-20, take US Highway 25 north until you see park signs
From I-85, take SC Highway 178 south to Highway 246 to the town of Ninety Six

CLIMATE:
Mild winters; wear jackets/coats/hats. Hot, humid summers; wear light clothing

No admission fee, however donations are accepted.

Visitor Center, Exhibits: Museum is located in the visitor center and 10-minute video is presented in the auditorium.

Trails: Interpretive trail; One mile loop. Gouedy Trail; One and a half mile primitive loop. Cherokee Path Trail; One mile primitive point-to-point.

Programs, Activities: Revolutionary War Days Encampment; "Order In The Court!"; Lifeways of the Cherokee Indians and Colonial Settlers; Autumn Candlelight Tour; Occasional ranger talks relating to the park's interpretive themes; Educational curriculum available by reservation. View the 10 minute interpretive video. Explore the museum and exhibits. Walk the 1 mile interpretive trail.

RESERVATIONS/PERMITS:
None required. Organized groups should contact the staff prior to visiting.

Allow one to two hours to visit the park.
