OPERATING HOURS, SEASONS:
Rangers are on duty daily, in summer: 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.; daily in winter: 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Headquarters is open Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with no duty ranger December 25. The self registration campground is open 24 hours.

CLIMATE, RECOMMENDED CLOTHING:
Summers generally hot and humid with afternoon thunderstorms. Fall and Spring generally comfortable temperatures. Winters are generally cold to mild. Wear comfortable sportswear in season, with walking shoes or hiking boots.

DIRECTIONS:
Visitors traveling south on I-95: exit number 23 Kenilworth Avenue southbound, veer to right and take first exit to Greenbelt Road. Take left onto Greenbelt Road eastbound, and the park will be on the right side about one-quarter mile.

Visitors traveling north on I-95: exit number 22A Baltimore- Washington Parkway northbound, and take first exit to Greenbelt Road (Route 193) westbound. Follow Greenbelt Road for about one- half mile, and the park will be on the left side.

Visitors traveling south on the Baltimore-Washington Parkway: exit Greenbelt Road (Route 193) westbound. Follow Greenbelt Road for about one-half mile, and the park will be on the left side.

Visitors traveling north on the Baltimore-Washington Parkway: exit Greenbelt Road (Route 193) westbound. Follow Greenbelt Road for about one-half mile, and the park will be on the left side.

TRANSPORTATION:
To Park: metro bus stops are at the park entrance on Greenbelt Road; the closest Metro subway stop is the College Park/University of Maryland station.
In Park: personal vehicle and bicycle.

FEES, RESERVATIONS, RATES:
No park admission fees.

Campground fee is $13.00 per night, per site. Maximum six campers and two tents per site. Maximum stay is 14 days. Campground reservations are accepted from 4/1 to 10/31. Call 1-800-365-2267 to make a reservation.

Reservations for school groups or other educational groups should be made at least two weeks prior to the visit. Group picnic reservations should be made at least two weeks prior to the event. At least one month's notice and application for special use permits are required. FACILITIES AND OPPORTUNITIES:
Visitor Center/Exhibits:
The ranger station is located at the entrance to the campground. Visitor information on the park and other sites in the metropolitan area is available.

Programs/Activities:
Programs vary throughout the year, including themes dealing with Washington, D.C., natural and cultural resources and recreation. There is a Junior Ranger Program for children ages 8 to 11 during the summer months. Special events are held annually in the Fall and on Earth Day. For up-to-date information call (301) 344-3944.

Lodging and camping facilities:
The 174 site family campground is open year round to tent camping, truck campers and travel trailers, with a maximum trailer length of 30 feet. Modern rest rooms with showers, drinking water, tables and fire grills are provided. Utility hookups are not available, though the campground does have a dumping station and water hookup to fill tanks for campground users. Dead and downed wood may be burned at the campsite fire grills.

Picnicking: the Holly and Laurel picnic areas are available for group activities for a fee. The sweetgum picnic area is available on a first come, first served basis. These areas hold approximately 75 to 200 people. Call (301) 344-3948 to make reservations.

Accessibility:
Wheelchair accessible campsites and rest rooms are available in the campground.

RECOMMENDED ACTIVITIES/PARK USE:
Walking, hiking and jogging on over 12 miles of trails, biking on paved areas, picnicking at designated areas and overnight camping.

BASIC VISIT RECOMMENDATIONS:
For day-use recreation, set aside approximately one to two hours to hike one of the park's four nature trails. For campers, set aside a half-day to enjoy park attractions and a half-day to enjoy other area attractions.

ADJACENT VISITOR ATTRACTIONS:
College Park Airport Museum, Beltsville Agricultural Research Center, NASA Goddard Space Center, Greenbelt Lake at Buddy Attick Park, and Old Greenbelt Museum, Washington, D.C. are all close by.
