Notices and Updates

  • March 1, 2004: An article, Industrial Production and Capacity Utilization: The 2003 Annual Revision is available in the Winter 2004 edition of the Federal Reserve Bulletin.
  • February 26, 2004: The series for consumer goods excluding energy, motor vehicles and parts, and selected high-technology industries and for business supplies excluding energy, motor vehicles and parts, and selected high-technology industries were incorrect in Tables 2 and 5 of the G.17 Release. The series for consumer goods included motor vehicles and parts and the series for business supplies included energy. (However, the descriptions for these series in the Ascii data files were correct.) The correct series are now included in the Ascii data files and will be published in the March 15 issue of the G.17 Release.
The new code for consumer goods excluding energy, motor vehicles and parts, and selected high-technology industries is X51HVE. The new code for business supplies excluding energy, motor vehicles and parts, and selected high-technology industries is X5421T. Ascii data files containing current and historical data for these two new codes are available from the download page. Data for the previously published aggregates will no longer be issued, but are available upon request.
  • February 17, 2004: With the May 14 issue of the G.17, the comparison base year for the data in Table 9, Gross Value of Final Products and Nonindustrial Supplies, and in Table 10, Gross-Value-Weighted Industrial Production: Stage-of-Process Groups, will be advanced to 2000 in conformity with the comparison base year for the National Income Accounts.
  • November 26, 2003: Auto and truck production seasonal factors for November 2003 were reestimated to reflect the holidays in the new UAW contracts.
