Kingman Reef

Location: Oceania, reef in the North Pacific Ocean, about one-half of the way from Hawaii to American Samoa.
Government: Unincorporated territory of the US; administered from Washington, DC by the US Fish and Wildlife Service of the Department of the Interior. Barren coral atoll with deep interior lagoon. It is awash the majority of the time, so it is not usable. The maximum elevation of about 1 meter makes Kingman Reef a maritime hazard. A United States possession since 1922, Kingman Reef is a Naval Defensive Sea Area and Airspace Reservation, and is closed to the public.
