Predeparture information
If You Are Presently in the U.S.

If you are currently enrolled at a school, college, or university in the United States, you will already have valid F-1 or M-1 student status or, in a more limited number of cases, J-1 exchange visitor status. As long as you do not plan to travel outside the United States prior to beginning your studies at a different school, the International Students Office at your new school will carry out the appropriate transfer notification procedure. The person responsible for international students at your new school will inform the appropriate U.S. federal agency, depending on the type of visa you hold, that your status has been transferred once your new school has verified your registration.

If you are currently in the United States in a visa classification other than F-1, M-1, or J-1, you should contact the Admissions Office or International Students Office at the school that has admitted you for assistance.
