The Application
Process
The entire application process, from obtaining initial information
to applying for your student visa, should begin 12 to 18 months
before you wish to start studying in the United States. See

and Checklist' for a summary of the time frame for applying
to U.S. universities to make sure you understand what you
need to do and when. It may be possible to complete the process
in less than 12 months, but late applicants usually find they
have a much more limited choice of institutions, and even
more limited chances of receiving financial assistance.
Having a good understanding of the U.S. educational system,
starting early enough, and following the outlined steps will
make the application process as simple as possible.
