dc.description.abstract The Present work reports the modeling of gasless combustible systems as a one-dimensional chain of point heat sources connected by inert heat-conducting elements and numerical simulation of the combustion waves in such systems. Random numbers are generated to assign the position of the heat sources. Different distributions such as uniform, normal, Poisson, gamma etc. are used and their affect on the propagation of the combustion waves is studied. Dependence of burn rates of such systems on ignition temperature of the heat sources is calculated. The results show that the dynamical and statistical behavior of the system is dictated by the nonlinear interaction of the random structure of the system with the thermal wave. Our analysis also shows that a gamma distribution with variation in shaping parameter can approximate the results of obtained from all the other distributions. Theoretical analysis of the normalized burn rates with respect to a periodic system shows a good agreement with numerical results.
