dc.description.abstract Phytochrome (Pfr) regulates peroxidase activity in maize in a manner characteristic of photomodulation. The increase in peroxidase activity under continuous far-red (FR) light is sensitive to puromycin but not to chloramphenicol and actinomycin D. Cycloheximide (CHI) enhanced the peroxidase activity, both in dark-grown and FR-irradiated seedlings. However, the kinetics of enhancement of peroxidase activity by continuous FR light and CHI is different. © 1976.
