dc.description.abstract Using the Dimapur lynching of March 2015 as an example, this article examines why certain events slip out of the net of collective and national memory. The "identifiable victim effect," ambiguity and dangerous memories are possible reasons for forgetting events such as the lynching. The article then moves on to speak about the regimes of memory that go towards the making of the nation.
