ItemCopper(I) alkylborohydrides from alkenes using the CuCl/NaBH < inf > 4 < /inf > reagent system( 1986-08-05) Achyutha Rao, S. ; Periasamy, M.A 1 1 mixture of CuCl and NaBH4 in THF reacts with alkenes to give copper(I) alkylborohydrides. © 1986.

ItemIsomerization of terminal alkenes by the Cp < inf > 2 < /inf > TiCl < inf > 2 < /inf > /Mg/BrCH < inf > 2 < /inf > CH < inf > 2 < /inf > Br System( 1988-03-08) Achyutha Rao, S. ; Periasamy, M.The reagents prepared in situ in tetrahydrofuran (THF) by reaction of Cp2TiCl2 with isobutyl or t-butylmagnesium halides or with Grignard grade magnesium and 1,2-dibromoethane bring about isomerization of some 1-alkenes into trans-alkenes under mild condition. © 1988.

ItemNovel reactions of low valent titanium and zirconium reagents generated by reduction of Cp < inf > 2 < /inf > TiCl < inf > 2 < /inf > and Cp < inf > 2 < /inf > ZrCl < inf > 2 < /inf > with magnesium and 1,2-dibromoethane( 1988-09-06) Achyutha Rao, S. ; Periasamy, M.The reduction of Cp2MCl2 (M = Ti or Zr) with Grignard grade magnesium and 1,2-dibromoethane in THF at 0° C gives the corresponding metallocene-ethylene complexes along with hydride species, as indicated by the reaction with diphenyl-acetylene to give 1,2-diphenyl-(E)-1-butene. The reactions of the Cp2ZrCl2/1,2-dibromobenzene/Mg system in THF with diphenylacetylene and norbornene are also described. © 1988.

ItemSimple syntheses of Co < inf > 2 < /inf > (CO) < inf > 8 < /inf > and NaCo(CO) < inf > 4 < /inf > reagents by the reduction of CoCl < inf > 2 < /inf > (or CoBr < inf > 2 < /inf > ) under carbon monoxide at atmospheric pressure( 1991-02-19) Devasagayaraj, A. ; Achyutha Rao, S. ; Periasamy, M.The reduction of CoCl2 by MgH2 in tetrahydrofuran in the presence of carbon monoxide gives Co2(CO)8, which on treatment with an alkyne and norbornene gives the Pauson-Khand reaction. The reduction of CoCl2 or CoBr2 by sodium naphthalenide in THF in the presence of carbon monoxide gives NaCo(CO)4, which has been used for cyclization of certain benzylic halides into the corresponding cyclic ketones. © 1991.
